Breathwork & mINDFULNESS

“Breath is the bridge which connects life to consciousness, which unites your body to your thoughts. Whenever your mind becomes scattered, use your breath as the means to take hold of your mind again.” Thich Nhat Hanh

Breathing Practices and Mindfulness have become ‘buzzwords’ over the past few years. Pick up a newspaper or health magazine and you are likely to read about the latest research into how these practices can help us beat stress, overcome traumatic experiences and aid our overall health and wellbeing. But these practices have been around for thousands of years as a way of living more peacefully in connection to ourselves and the world around us.

Mindfulness is simply bringing our awareness to something in the present moment without judgment or a need to change it, be it: our breath, the sounds & smells around us, sensations or feelings in our body.

I use a number of mindfulness techniques in my sessions, one of which is a mediation practice called Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep) or iRest. This is a conscious state of relaxation that is an accessible, adaptable form of mediation that allows us to meet each moment of your life with unshakable peace and wellbeing, no matter how challenging or difficult your situation.” Richard Miller founder of iRest

iRest and Yoga Nidra have shown to be effective in scientific trials for conditions including chronic pain, sleep problems, depression and anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

If you are looking to be more focused, calmer, better able to regulate emotions breath work is medically proven to have a positive impact on our body and mind even after a short period of regular practice.
